Mission Australia is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Youth Worker to join our team at DAYS in Carlisle, WA. As a key member of our team, you will provide holistic and trauma-informed support to young people accessing residential services, helping them to achieve positive outcomes and overcome challenges.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position working a 7-day, 24-hour rotating roster with a combination of 12-hour day and night shifts. You will be responsible for developing relationships with young people, supporting them to progress towards their goals, and collaborating with the team to provide care and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with young people, adhering to boundaries of care practice
  • Support clients to progress towards achieving their goals
  • Assist with meal preparation and portioning
  • Monitor clients' personal care and hygiene and provide guidance to improve life skills
  • Collaborate with the team in the care and management of young people who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Facilitate educational groups and recreational activities
  • Support young people to self-administer medications
  • Informal counselling
  • Transport young people to and from appointments
Requirements for Success

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in the child, youth, and family, and AOD sectors, with a degree in Psychology or Social Welfare or a minimum of certificate 4 in youth work or community services. You will also have demonstrated experience providing support and crisis intervention, as well as strong knowledge of behaviour management and the ability to set boundaries and limits in a residential setting.
