Supporting Homeless Individuals: A Rewarding Career Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to provide client-centred support at Vinnies Matthew Talbot Homeless Service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial intakes and assessments, providing crisis intervention where necessary
- Engage with persons sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness
- Refer clients to external services and link to life skills programs
- Advocate on behalf of clients at Government Departments, Courts, and service providers
- Visit clients in temporary accommodation and provide a safe environment
- Develop case plans, provide ongoing support, and monitor progress
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- TAFE Certificate IV or tertiary study in welfare or a related field
- Experience supporting marginalised and vulnerable people, particularly homeless individuals
- Knowledge of homelessness issues, including domestic violence, mental illness, and addiction awareness
- Excellent communication skills and computer literacy
- Ability to use sound judgement in crisis situations and hold a NSW driver licence for flexibility in meeting client needs
