Our organisation supports individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

We uphold a zero-tolerance approach to violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

The entire Melba community is committed to our vision, purpose, and values as outlined in The Melba Way Charter.

We aim to create inclusive work environments that foster collaborative working relationships.

For over five decades, we have been providing services that empower people with disabilities to achieve their goals and aspirations.

We prioritise human rights and acknowledge that independence and the pursuit of joy are essential components of a happy and healthy life.

In recognition of our dedication to excellence, we were awarded the 2023 National Disability Award for Service Quality.

  • We engage with individuals to understand their unique needs and preferences, ensuring support that respects their autonomy and upholds their human rights.
  • Effective communication is paramount, and we strive to connect with individuals in meaningful ways, including supporting alternative and augmentative communication systems when required.
  • We develop and implement tailored support plans that cater to each individual's needs, preferences, and interests, reporting any concerns or issues that arise.
  • We utilise Person Centred Active Support to enable individuals to participate in daily activities that hold significance for them, such as assisting with morning routines, evening preparations, personal care, hygiene maintenance, and household tasks like shopping, cleaning, cooking, and laundry.
  • Person Centred Active Support also helps individuals develop and maintain social relationships by supporting attendance and participation in social events, recreational activities, work, education, and appointments of their choice.
  • We respect and advocate for personal choice and autonomy.
  • We administer medication and provide health supports within the scope of our practice and training, as needed.
  • Where necessary, we collaborate with individuals' natural support networks and other service providers to ensure continuity of support.
