Strategic Compliance Director

The Director of Global Compliance plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with applicable country, national, and regional laws and regulations related to background screening.

This individual leads a global team responsible for shaping and operationalizing compliance practices, partnering with cross-functional teams, and fostering a culture of accountability and ethical conduct across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compliance Program Leadership: Develop, implement, and maintain global compliance procedures aligned with international background screening regulations and data privacy laws.
  • Operational Excellence: Design and manage compliance training programs and documentation. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement scalable solutions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing global compliance team. Establish team goals and KPIs; monitor performance and provide coaching and mentorship.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead the resolution of compliance issues including escalations and customer complaints. Support customer-facing teams with compliance communication, education, and enablement.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years' experience in background screening industry desired
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent background screening industry experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of Global Compliance background screening related laws and data privacy required
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale compliance programs and teams globally
  • Strong leadership, team management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to assess and manage risk in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task each day to meet schedule demands and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex compliance topics clearly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks without direct supervision
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM tools
