Role Overview

The Clinical Facilitation and Education Specialist plays a pivotal role in the development of nursing students, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for success within the clinical environment.

This position requires a highly skilled and experienced nurse to act as a professional role model, fostering positive relationships with healthcare agencies and enhancing the learning experience for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of student clinical practice, ensuring education and assessment opportunities are provided to meet clinical placement requirements.
  • Clear communication of expectations to students while on clinical placement.
  • Adequate personal orientation to the clinical facility/service.
  • Orientating students to the clinical placement facility, conducting debriefs, and gaining feedback from both students and facilities.
  • Liaising with health facility/staff to provide opportunities for students to meet relevant clinical learning objectives.
  • Effective communication with the Clinical Placement Coordinator to ensure seamless experiences for students.
  • Assisting students in developing communication, problem-solving, clinical, and professional skills.
  • Responding promptly to the immediate concerns and needs of students and healthcare facility/service coordinators.
  • Promoting the safety of patients/clients and students.
  • Conducting pre-briefing and debriefing sessions with students.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years' broad clinical experience in nursing.
  • Detailed understanding of relevant professional and accreditation requirements.
  • Tertiary qualification in nursing or a related health discipline.
  • Current Division 1 Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA, with no conditions or notations.
  • Current Workplace Immunisation, as per State requirements.
  • Advanced clinical nursing knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and apply key conflict resolution skills in the student environment.
  • High level interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
