The Clinical Facilitator assists nursing students to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for practice within the clinical environment as a beginning level enrolled or registered nurse. The Clinical Facilitator will act as a professional role model for students- Think and Torrens University, andis responsible formaintaining positive relationships with health care agencies to enhance the learning experience. Clinical Facilitators will have highly developed clinical, communication and interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic and a commitment to research/ evidence-based practice.

Day-to-day accountabilities:

Oversee directly and indirectly student’s clinical practice and deliver education and assessment opportunities to ensure the clinical placement requirements are met

Clearly communicate expectations of students while on clinical placement 

Ensure adequate personal orientation to the clinical facility/service

Orientate students to the clinical placement facility (resources, workplace health and safety issues), conduct student debriefs and gain feedback student and facility feedback

Liaise with health facility /service staff to provide opportunities for the students to meet relevant clinical learning objectives

Communicate with Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC) to ensure effective and appropriate experiences for students

Assist students with their development of communication, problem solving, clinical and professional skills

Responding positively to the immediate concerns and needs of the students and the health care facility/ service coordinator) 

Promote the safety of both patients/ clients and students

Conduct pre-briefing and debriefing sessions with students

This is a casual position based at Wakefield, Campus Adelaide.

What does casual work mean? Clinical Facilitators typically work with students at their placement sites for periods of 2 weeks, often during semester breaks such as May, August, December, and January. We give you ample notice to schedule these 2-week shifts.Please apply only if this casual type of work fits your schedule and working arrangements.

Please note, if you are successful in securing this role, you will be required to submit:

Current Working with Children Check 

Certified copies of all your Academic qualifications 

Current Workplace Immunisation, as per State requirements 

Who you are

Minimum of 3 years’ broad clinical experience in nursing 

Detailed understanding of the relevant professional and accreditation requirements

Tertiary qualification in nursing or related health discipline

Current Division 1 Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA with no conditions or notations 

Current Workplace Immunisation, as per State requirements

Advanced clinical nursing knowledge and skills 

Ability to effectively manage and apply key conflict resolution skills in the student environment

High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
