Recovery Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Recovery Support Specialist to join our team at Richmond Wellbeing. As a key member of our community services team, you will play a vital role in providing practical and emotional support to individuals on their journey of personal recovery.
Key Responsibilities:- Supporting Individuals:
- Develop and implement personalized recovery plans to promote self-determination and choice.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals, fostering emotional wellbeing and resilience.
- Adopt a holistic approach to support, addressing physical health and mental distress.
- Collaborate with family members, carers, and significant individuals to ensure comprehensive support.
- Respond to critical incidents and crises according to organizational policies and procedures.
- Work within a person-centered framework, promoting autonomy and empowerment.
- Build strong relationships with service users to foster trust and collaboration.
- Assist service users in developing essential life skills to enhance their independence and confidence.
- Ensure timely completion of all necessary documentation and reporting.
- Participate actively in internal meetings, supervision sessions, and training activities to stay up-to-date with best practices.
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain facilities and property in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualification in Human Services (e.g. Mental Health, Community Services, Psychology, Counselling).
- Current National Police Clearance Certificate.
- A valid First Aid Certificate and CPR.
- A Working with Children's Check.
- Some services also require an NDIS Screening Check.
- Understanding of contemporary mental health frameworks and best practices.
- Previous experience in a human service-related field, preferably in mental health support.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and develop written materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage tasks effectively.
- Experience in a residential setting with individuals experiencing mental distress.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Lived experience of mental health recovery or as a family member of someone in recovery.
- Awareness of relevant government departments and community-based support agencies.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards such as LARU and MH Act.
- Positive attitude towards individuals experiencing mental distress.
- Commitment to upholding organizational values and principles.
- Proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting recovery.
- Salary Packaging:
- Salary packaging up to $18,640, allowing you to pay approved expenses from your salary before tax.
