About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Recovery Support Specialist to join our team at Richmond Wellbeing. As a key member of our community services team, you will play a vital role in providing practical and emotional support to individuals on their journey of personal recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supporting Individuals:
  • Develop and implement personalized recovery plans to promote self-determination and choice.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals, fostering emotional wellbeing and resilience.
  • Adopt a holistic approach to support, addressing physical health and mental distress.
  • Collaborate with family members, carers, and significant individuals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Respond to critical incidents and crises according to organizational policies and procedures.
Recovery Plan Support:
  • Work within a person-centered framework, promoting autonomy and empowerment.
  • Build strong relationships with service users to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Assist service users in developing essential life skills to enhance their independence and confidence.
Service Operations:
  • Ensure timely completion of all necessary documentation and reporting.
  • Participate actively in internal meetings, supervision sessions, and training activities to stay up-to-date with best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Maintain facilities and property in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements:
  1. Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualification in Human Services (e.g. Mental Health, Community Services, Psychology, Counselling).
  • Current National Police Clearance Certificate.
  • A valid First Aid Certificate and CPR.
  • A Working with Children's Check.
  • Some services also require an NDIS Screening Check.
Skills and Experience:
  • Understanding of contemporary mental health frameworks and best practices.
  • Previous experience in a human service-related field, preferably in mental health support.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and develop written materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage tasks effectively.
  • Experience in a residential setting with individuals experiencing mental distress.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or as a family member of someone in recovery.
  • Awareness of relevant government departments and community-based support agencies.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards such as LARU and MH Act.
  • Positive attitude towards individuals experiencing mental distress.
  • Commitment to upholding organizational values and principles.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting recovery.
