Procurement Specialist Role

The Procurement Specialist will support the Central Procurement Unit (CPU) team in providing high-quality advice and support for procurement planning, evaluation, and approvals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop coaching and mentoring programs for staff within the CPU team
  • Provide guidance and support to contract managers and assist in resolving contract disputes
  • Maintain fit-for-purpose documentation for procurement reporting and contract management frameworks
  • Identify compliance risks relating to procurement and contract management and provide support to business areas to manage these risks
  • Draft reports relating to procurement and contract management compliance and risks for internal governance committees and legislative requirements
  • Lead and review projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement
  • Provide regular training to staff on procurement and contract management best practices
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and operational business planning
  • Identify and implement improvements to procurement activities

Requirements:

  • Experience in public sector procurement and contract management reporting
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence confidently
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to create a culture of collaboration and outcome delivery
  • Ability to plan workloads and coordinate to effectively deliver projects that achieve outcomes

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications in procurement are desirable for this position
  • Previous experience in strategic procurement in a government environment is highly desirable
