Job Overview

The Technical Production Specialist will be responsible for providing expert advice and analysis to support underground operations.

This role involves identifying and implementing improvement initiatives that enable excellence in Copper SA. The successful candidate will engage with underground crews, design and review drilling, blasting and production plans, compile reports, and provide expertise to other teams in analysis of production performance indicators and metrics.

The Technical Production Specialist will analyze equipment capability assumptions, identify functional capability gaps, recommend improvement opportunities, prepare inputs to form the production plan, produce operating standards, procedures and work instructions, undertake QA/QC monitoring, and perform stope reconciliations/abandonments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice and analysis to support underground operations
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives to enable excellence in Copper SA
  • Engage with underground crews to design and review drilling, blasting and production plans
  • Compile reports and provide expertise to other teams in analysis of production performance indicators and metrics
  • Analyze equipment capability assumptions and identify functional capability gaps
  • Recommend improvement opportunities and prepare inputs to form the production plan
  • Produce operating standards, procedures and work instructions
  • Undertake QA/QC monitoring and perform stope reconciliations/abandonments
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Mining, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or a discipline aligning with this role)
  • Experience working in an underground, hard rock, metalliferous mine environment
  • Underground practical experience complete including a thorough understanding of the underground production cycle
  • Proven experience in drill and blast design in sub-level open stoping preferred
  • Previous experience in scheduling preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to be motivated and self-directed to achieve project outcomes
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Previous experience to actively promote safe production and processes
  • Well-developed Microsoft Office and Deswik suite software experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production planning and control systems
  • Understanding of mine safety protocols and procedures
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
