About the Role">

As a Cultural Consultant, you will play a crucial role in shaping culturally safe and responsive mental health services for Aboriginal consumers. This position provides an opportunity to deliver essential cultural advice and advocacy, supporting Aboriginal people both as inpatients and in the community.

You will work closely with clinical teams to ensure services honor Aboriginal culture, address the impacts of trauma and colonization, and promote social and emotional wellbeing through a strong cultural perspective. As part of the Aboriginal Mental Health Team, you will support the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal people using mental health services.

You will collaborate with mental health clinicians to provide cultural advice and guidance, ensure care is respectful of Aboriginal culture, and be sensitive to the effects of trauma and colonization. You will assist with care planning and assessments that consider cultural needs, and advocate for Aboriginal consumers to support connection to family, community, and culture, whether in hospital or in the community.

You will engage with local Aboriginal health organizations and other agencies to provide well-rounded support and better health outcomes. This is a meaningful role where you can contribute to culturally safe and supportive mental health care for Aboriginal people.
