We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Cultural Consultant.
Job DescriptionThis role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with clinical teams to provide cultural advice and advocacy, supporting Aboriginal consumers both inpatients and in the community.
You will be an important part of our mental health team, helping to support the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal people using mental health services. You will work closely with mental health clinicians to provide cultural guidance, ensuring that care is respectful of Aboriginal culture and sensitive to the effects of trauma and colonisation.
Key responsibilities include helping with care planning and assessments using tools that consider cultural needs, advocating for Aboriginal consumers, and connecting them with family, community, and culture whether they're in hospital or living in the community.
Collaboration is key in this role, working alongside clinical teams, taking part in reviews and meetings, and sharing insights to make sure Aboriginal consumers' voices are heard.
Requirements- You hold tertiary qualifications in Health, Counselling, Social Work, Community Welfare, or possessing relevant work experience.
- You are of Aboriginal descent, recognised by your community, and meeting the genuine occupational qualification for this role.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the social and emotional challenges faced by Aboriginal people.
- Hold current, unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence.
- Skilled in providing cultural advice and advocacy within a mental health setting.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working effectively alongside clinical teams and community partners.
