Aboriginal Cultural Advisor

This is a meaningful role where you can really make a difference by helping to create culturally safe and supportive mental health care for Aboriginal people. We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Cultural Advisor to join our team.

About the Role
  • As an advocate for Aboriginal consumers, you will support their connection to family, community, and culture, whether they're in hospital or living in the community.
  • You will work closely with mental health clinicians to provide cultural advice and guidance, ensuring that care is respectful of Aboriginal culture and sensitive to the effects of trauma and colonisation.
  • Collaboration is key. You will work alongside clinical teams, take part in reviews and meetings, and share insights to make sure Aboriginal consumers' voices are heard.

Our ideal candidate has experience working with diverse Aboriginal communities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will have a deep understanding of the impacts of trauma, colonialism, and cultural safety on Aboriginal people and be able to use this knowledge to inform your practice.

We are committed to creating a workplace that values diversity and promotes inclusion. Our organisation is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people, and we believe that our staff should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.

The successful candidate will have a degree in social work, psychology, or a related field, and relevant experience working with Aboriginal communities. They will be passionate about promoting cultural safety and advocating for the rights of Aboriginal consumers.

We offer a range of benefits including professional development opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive work environment.
