We are seeking an experienced Executive Indian Cuisine Specialist to join our team at YE OLDE CAFE MOONTA BAY, South Australia. Our restaurant offers authentic Indian cuisine in a fun and stylish atmosphere.

Salary

A competitive annual salary of AUD 70,000 - 80,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cooking Indian cuisine and possess excellent culinary skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation;
  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering ingredients;
  • Assessing food quality, ensuring fresh ingredients are served to customers;
  • Understanding kitchen equipment, checking temperatures of heating appliances;
  • Cooking food and taking responsibility for preparing Asian dishes;
  • Tasting food while cooking, applying suitable seasoning for flavour;
  • Presenting food attractively on plates with proper portion sizes;
  • Storing food in appropriate storage spaces to maintain freshness and prevent cross-contamination;
  • Preparing cooking ingredients and cutting food to required sizes;
  • Meeting individual customer needs and preferences;
  • Complying with food hygiene regulations;
  • Providing training to fellow staff and new kitchen staff.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should:

  • Hold an AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery;
  • Have at least 3 years' experience in Indian cuisine;
  • Possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members;
  • Be willing to follow directions and ask questions for clarification when needed;
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Show ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and handle stress;
  • Be able to commit to working beyond normal hours when required.
