Facilities Maintenance Professional

Our organization is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Professional to maintain a clean and sanitary environment within our facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and disinfecting building areas, including walls, windows, ceilings, floors, carpets, air vents, furniture, mattresses, blinds, and washrooms using various manual and power cleaning equipment.
  • Performing laundry duties as required.
  • Collecting and disposing of refuse and maintaining clean refuse areas; performing spot clean-ups as required.
  • Using specialized chemicals and applying sound judgment and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to disinfect and sanitize washrooms and high-touch areas.
  • Cleaning areas that are potential bio-hazards, ensuring the use of proper PPE.
  • Maintaining and cleaning parking lots and sidewalks using hand and powered equipment.
  • Performing minor maintenance on buildings, grounds, furniture, electrical fixtures, and plumbing.
  • Setting up furniture for functions and meetings, maintaining various logs, key registers, and assisting in taking inventory.
  • Securing buildings by arming alarms and locking doors and windows as necessary.
  • Maintaining the appearance of floors in assigned areas.
  • Developing basic working knowledge of all site systems and equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to perform in a team environment, under the direction of the Operations Supervisor or Coordinating Supervisor.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn proper use of chemicals, cleaning methods, and equipment.
  • WHMIS certification is required.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions.
  • Ability to respond to multiple and concurrent tasks.
  • Comfortable relating to a wide variety of people served by our organization.
