Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership and guidance to the Project Engineering team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  2. Mentoring and Coaching: Mentor and coach project engineers to develop their skills and expertise, enabling them to take on more complex projects and responsibilities.
  3. Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of project engineers, ensuring they are equipped to manage complex engineering projects.
  4. Project Delivery: Ensure the successful delivery of individual projects, adhering to PMBOK principles and industry standards.
  5. Standards and Best Practices: Develop and maintain standards of project engineering management excellence, ensuring alignment with UGL policy and industry standards.
  6. Problem Solving and Performance Improvement: Provide day-to-day problem-solving and solutions management, driving performance improvement and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  7. Knowledge Sharing and Communication: Establish knowledge-sharing forums and communications across the organization, ensuring best practices and lessons learned are shared and implemented.
  8. Representation and Technical Sales: Represent UGL at technical reviews, arbitration, conferences, and provide technical sales presentations to support sales and business development opportunities.
Requirements
  1. Qualifications: An appropriate Engineering Degree from an accredited tertiary institution or equivalent, and Chartered credential (CPEng) or eligibility to attain through IEAust.
  2. Experience: Proven experience of leading operations and projects in multi-discipline mechanical-electrical engineering design environments, preferably in rolling stock.
  3. Skills and Knowledge: Strong Program Management skills, team leadership experience, and a thorough understanding of manufacturing/fabrication principles and practices.
  4. Additional Requirements: Eligibility to obtain Rail Safety Worker status, and additional relevant specialized training (e.g., MBA or Post Graduate studies in business management, culture change, project management, engineering management, commercial contracting, advanced negotiating, etc.).
