Corporate Governance Specialist

About this role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Governance Specialist to join our Group Secretariat team at the Commonwealth Bank. As a Company Secretary, you will play a critical role in providing corporate governance advice and secretariat services to our onshore subsidiaries.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality secretariat and governance services aligned to Group Secretariat standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to the knowledge, growth, development, and culture of the Group Secretariat team.
- Engage internal customers and senior stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
- Support the relevant Subsidiary Boards of Directors to meet their governance obligations.
- Apply good judgment and ensure Group Secretariat continues to operate in accordance with the Group's risk and compliance frameworks.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or finance.
- Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance (GIA).
- Risk mindset, with a demonstrated ability to identify and understand, openly discuss, and act on current and future risks and comply with detailed policies and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge, understanding, and application of secretariat practice, including relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, meet deadlines, and make sound judgments.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to continuous development.
- Proven track record of establishing good relationships with senior stakeholders and ability to ensure effective information flows between Directors and Management.
