Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer - Robotics Systems Architect, you will be responsible for:

  • Owning the physical design, prototyping, and fabrication of robotic systems deployed to customers, prioritizing end-user value delivery
  • Serving as a subject matter expert for areas of expertise related to delivering Anduril's technology capabilities, including motor and actuator selection, transmission design, layout, prototype fabrication, integration, and testing
  • Designing and performing structural, modal, and dynamic analyses on critical mechanical systems
  • Designing, prototyping, and building complex mechanisms and actuated mechanical systems
  • Designing and implementing integrated systems, including advanced platforms and payloads, to rapidly deliver capabilities beyond current systems, with a clear path for architecture and capability evolution
  • Empathizing with end-users and driving solutions balancing their needs with external constraints, restrictions, and requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Contributing to technology component design and development across Anduril, aiming to create reusable components across multiple product lines
  • Supporting vehicle and payload manufacturing, testing, and deployment
  • Traveling up to 20% of the time to co-locate with end-users, vendors, or the integration and test team
  • Working as a member of a multidisciplinary engineering team, including mentoring engineers from diverse backgrounds

Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Professional experience working as a Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineer with one or more domains and/or technologies of expertise
  • Capacity to work holistically on complex robotic systems across design, implementation, operation, and sustainment
  • Capacity to act as the technical contributor for a complex subsystem, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, team coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution
  • Ability to learn and grow individually, building team cohesion and capacity
  • Capacity to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance
