At Community Housing Limited, we are committed to addressing housing issues and supporting vulnerable populations. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Initial Assessment Planning (IAP) Worker to join our team.

The IAP Worker will play a vital role in assisting our customers who present as being homeless or are at risk of homelessness. You will conduct assessments with our customers, using your solutions-focused approach to prevent and minimise homelessness in the community.

You will assess our customer's eligibility and assist them to obtain adequate accommodation through the provision of housing information, direct financial assistance, and/or targeted referrals to relevant external services.

As an IAP Worker, you will be an advocate for our customers, liaising regularly with external stakeholders including Centrelink, real estate agents, and private landlords.

We have two roles available: a fixed term full time role until September 2025 and a permanent part time role working a 9-day fortnight.

To be successful in this role, you will have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people in our community. You will possess a qualification and/or demonstrated experience in Social Work or another relevant social discipline.

Essential criteria include:

  • Relevant skills and experience in working effectively and sensitively with a diverse customer group with complex needs.
  • Confidence in liaising with various stakeholders including vulnerable people.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a caring and empathetic nature.
  • Previous experience working on MS Office programs.
  • Ability to compose professional correspondence via email to internal and external stakeholders.
  • A current driver's licence.

Desirable criteria include:

  • Previous experience working in the social/community housing industry.
