About the Role

The Head of Compliance and Designated AML Officer will be instrumental in shaping and implementing compliance practices that meet the highest regulatory standards, ensuring seamless operations across our global presence.

  • Liaise with key regulatory bodies (ASIC, AFCA) to ensure timely reporting and adherence to regulatory expectations.
  • Provide expert advice to the board of directors and senior management on critical compliance matters.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant business practices and regulations, leveraging this knowledge to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop and implement local operational procedures that align with regulatory requirements, maintaining comprehensive documentation.
  • Ensure staff receive rigorous training on local regulatory requirements, guaranteeing competence and adherence to regulator-mandated regimes.
  • Offer guidance to staff on regulatory matters as needed, fostering a culture of compliance excellence.
  • Conduct regular monitoring to verify that business activities align with internal rules and regulations, documenting findings and recommending improvements.
  • Evaluate client due diligence procedures to ensure their adequacy and effectiveness.
  • Address any compliance-related concerns promptly, conducting thorough investigations where necessary.
  • Assess the company's overall compliance status, providing regular updates to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Design and review internal policies and procedures related to compliance, risk management, and anti-money laundering/terrorist financing controls, ensuring they align with international and local regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effective implementation of these policies, providing corrective guidance when necessary and informing the board of directors.
  • Identify and document risks associated with existing and new customers, financial instruments, and services, updating systems and procedures accordingly.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations.
  • Offer expertise and guidance to employees on general compliance matters.
  • Determine departments requiring additional training and organize sessions to enhance staff competencies.
  • Develop and execute an annual staff training program, assessing its effectiveness.
  • Prepare the Annual Report of the Compliance Officer.
  • Respond to requests from regulatory bodies, providing requested information in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in law (preferably)
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian financial services regulations and requirements
  • Desirable experience in the CFD and margin FX industry within Australia
  • Experience working in a global financial institution
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of managing complex stakeholders
  • Able to work independently, with a hands-on approach
  • Confident communication skills, both written and oral
  • Team leadership and management experience
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
