Dispute Resolution Expert

You will play a pivotal role in leading our Dispute Resolution Team within the Victorian Workers Compensation division.

This position requires strategic and operational leadership to ensure fair, timely, and effective resolution of disputes between injured workers, employers, and insurers.

As a senior member of our team, you will oversee complex dispute management, promote early dispute resolution practices, and foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time role based in our Melbourne office, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders to develop and implement proactive approaches to dispute resolution.
  • Lead and manage a team of dispute resolution professionals and administration assistants, providing coaching and performance development.
  • Oversee intake, assessment, and resolution of disputes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy.
  • Promote and facilitate early resolution practices including conciliation.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including legal representatives, and regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor team performance and contribute to strategic planning and service improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting, documentation, and case management.

About You:

  • You are an experienced leader with a strong background in dispute resolution, case management, or legal services.
  • You bring:
    • Demonstrated experience in managing complex disputes, preferably in a Vic Workers Compensation or regulatory environment.
    • Strong understanding of early resolution principles and Victorian Worker's Compensation legislation.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Proven ability to lead teams in high-pressure environments with empathy and professionalism, including team building, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and change management.
    • Tertiary qualifications in law, dispute resolution, public administration, or a related field (desirable).
