The Role

As a Air Conditioning Technician at HDB Air-Conditioning, your major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Consulting with clients and design engineers to ensure all requirements and specifications are met.
  • Establishing job requirements from drawings and specifications and laying out installation reference points.
  • Assembling and installing piping for refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
  • Installing or overseeing the installation of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, ensuring proper setup and operation.
  • Bolting, soldering, riveting, welding, and brazing pipes to connect equipment.
  • Checking the alignment and accuracy of fit to ensure proper installation and functionality.
  • Checking existing systems for leaks and faults; diagnosing and addressing issues as needed.
  • Maintaining systems; documenting the causes of malfunctions and the actions taken to resolve them.
  • Repairing or replacing worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts to maintain system performance and reliability.
  • Testing and balancing systems once installed to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Testing electrical circuits, components, equipment, or systems to verify proper functioning and identify any issues.
  • Service heating, ventilation, or air-conditioning (HVAC) systems or components to ensure they operate efficiently and effectively.

Skilled and experience requirements:

  • AQF Certificate III with a minimum of two years of practical on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
  • A strong understanding and working with various HVAC systems, components, and tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify issues within systems, including electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Competence in installing, assembling, and setting up HVAC systems and components.
  • Skill in repairing and replacing defective or worn parts to ensure system functionality.
  • Performing regular maintenance to keep systems running efficiently and prevent breakdowns.
  • Using calculations for measurements, pressure, and temperature settings.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure safe work practices.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, understanding their needs, and providing professional service.
  • Ensuring accurate installation, repair, and maintenance of systems, and thorough checking of work.
  • Ability to handle tools and equipment, and perform tasks that may involve climbing, bending, or lifting.
