Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Maritime Security Specialist to conduct security screening at Port Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with maritime security legislation and maintaining a safe environment for staff, visitors, and cargo operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough security screenings of persons, vehicles, and cargo entering secure areas in accordance with the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act (MTOFSA) 2003 and associated regulations.
  • Operate and monitor various screening equipment, including x-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors, and handheld scanning devices.
  • Verify identification and ensure all individuals entering restricted zones possess valid Maritime Security Identification Cards (MSIC).
  • Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, breaches, or suspicious activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, screening logs, and access control data.
  • Provide excellent customer service and clear instructions to port users while adhering to security protocols.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve continuous improvement of screening operations.
  • Participate in regular training, drills, and assessments to maintain accreditation and readiness.

Requirements:

  • Certificate II in Transport Security Protection
  • Current MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently or as part of a team
  • High level of attention to detail and professionalism
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of relevant security legislation and standards (MTOFSA 2003, TSP requirements)
