ABOUT THE ROLE: Location: Port Melbourne, VICSeasonal Casual/ Event Work Pay rate at SSIA Level 2 Certificate II in Transport Security Protection is essential Previous experience in the security industry is essential.
Data Centre Security or corporate security experience is beneficial.
Wilson Security is expanding in the VIC, securing additional contracts that strengthen our presence in the region.
This growth has created new roles within our team, focused on enhancing response and support capabilities for our existing teams and clients.
The Maritime Screening Officer is responsible for conducting security screening at Port Melbourne to ensure compliance with maritime security legislation and to maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and cargo operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct security screening of persons, vehicles, and cargo entering secure areas in accordance with the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act (MTOFSA) 2003 and associated regulations.
Operate and monitor screening equipment including x-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors, and handheld scanning devices.
Check identification, verify Maritime Security Identification Cards (MSIC), and ensure all persons entering restricted zones are authorised.
Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, breaches, or suspicious activities.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents, screening logs, and access control data.
Provide excellent customer service and clear instructions to port users while maintaining security protocols.
Comply with company policies and procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of screening operations.
Participate in regular training, drills, and assessments to maintain accreditation and readiness.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Certificate II Transport Security Protection Current MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) or ability to obtain one.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently or as part of a team.
High level of attention to detail and professionalism.
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Certificate II Security Operations Previous experience in aviation, maritime, or event screening.
First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
Knowledge of relevant security legislation and standards (MTOFSA 2003, TSP requirements).
