About the Role
  • Location: Port Melbourne VIC
  • Seasonal Casual/ Event Work
  • Pay rate at SSIA Level 2
  • Certificate II in Transport Security Protection is essential
  • Previous experience in the security industry is essential

We are expanding our presence in VIC, securing additional contracts that strengthen our regional capabilities. This growth has created new roles within our team, focused on enhancing response and support for our existing teams and clients.

This position is responsible for conducting security screening at Port Melbourne, adhering to maritime security legislation, and maintaining a secure environment for all stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Conduct thorough security screening of persons, vehicles, and cargo entering secure areas in accordance with MTOFSA 2003 and associated regulations.
  2. Operate and monitor screening equipment, including x-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors, and handheld scanning devices.
  3. Verify identification and ensure all personnel entering restricted zones possess valid authorisation.
  4. Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, breaches, or suspicious activities.
  5. Maintain accurate records of incidents, screening logs, and access control data.
  6. Provide exceptional customer service and clear instructions while adhering to security protocols.
  7. Comply with company policies and contribute to ongoing improvement of screening operations.
  8. Participate in regular training, drills, and assessments to maintain accreditation and readiness.
Requirements
  • Certificate II Transport Security Protection
  • Current MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) or ability to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently or as part of a team
  • High level of attention to detail and professionalism
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
