Leadership in Arts and Culture

This is a leadership position that provides direction to arts staff within the broader context of arts and culture.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading collaboration with the wider arts and culture team.
  • Developing and implementing artistic initiatives that enhance Glen Eira City Council as a center for inspiration, education, entertainment, and connection.
  • Delivering exhibitions, programs, and interpretation that attract new audiences and repeat visitors.

This role requires expertise in arts programming, gallery operations, and heritage collection management.

A strategic and hands-on approach is necessary to preserve local history and promote community participation through creative initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Tertiary qualification in history, museum studies, art curatorship, or relevant discipline.
  • Experience in historical collection development, assessment, and recording, along with knowledge of archival principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills for documentation, reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and liaison skills to work with stakeholders.

Pre-employment screening will be conducted as a standard procedure, including an Employee Working with Children Check, National Police Record Check, and Evidence of right to work in Australia.
