Arts Leadership Role

This leadership role is a vital component of the Arts and Culture team, overseeing staff across History, Heritage and Galleries. The successful candidate will bring expertise in arts and cultural programming, with a strong understanding of gallery operations and heritage collection management.

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strategic and hands-on approach, committed to preserving local history and enhancing community participation through creative initiatives.
  • You will work closely with the Manager, Libraries, Arts and Culture, and contribute to the broader Arts and Culture Leadership Group.

About the position:

  1. Lead arts and cultural initiatives that engage diverse audiences and support strategic goals.
  2. Plan for and instigate arts and cultural projects that evolve Glen Eira City Council as a place where people gather for inspiration, education, entertainment and connection.
  3. Deliver a program of exhibitions, programs and interpretation that attract and interest new audiences and repeat visitors.

About you:

  • Expertise in historical collection development, assessment and recording, together with knowledge of archival principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills for documentation of research, preparation of reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and liaison skills and the ability to work well and influence outcomes with a variety of stakeholders.
