Job Overview

The Head of Production is a strategic leadership position for an experienced professional. Reporting to the Engineering and Manufacturing Director, this role will oversee operational excellence across manufacturing capability and drive growth.

About the Role

This position provides subject matter expertise across the manufacturing lifecycle, supporting the resolution of complex technical issues within Operational teams. Key responsibilities include providing manufacturing technical leadership, collaborating with Engineering and Manufacturing function leads, and building relationships with key manufacturing stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide manufacturing technical leadership to ensure work meets design intent, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing function leads on policy, strategy development, and execution.
  • Define tactical and strategic demand for manufacturing capability.
  • Build relationships with key manufacturing stakeholders and community.
  • Ensure integrity of manufacturing applications and manufactured products.
  • Govern and continuously improve key manufacturing processes aligned with strategy.
Requirements
  • Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or Project Management; Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
  • Senior leadership experience in manufacturing management, preferably in defence or heavy engineering.
  • Experience across manufacturing and project lifecycle with exposure to innovation, continuous improvement, and change management.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with ability to motivate performance across leadership styles.
  • Strong self-management with ability to handle confidential information.
  • Critical thinker with analytical skills and ability to drive innovation for sustainable competitive advantage.
