Indigenous Art and Culture Producer

We are seeking a highly experienced producer to join our team at ABC Radio National, focusing on creating engaging content for our weekly program Awaye. This role offers a unique opportunity to produce high-quality radio programming that showcases diverse and vibrant Indigenous art and culture.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for planning, researching, and producing pre-recorded program material to inform, educate, and entertain national radio audiences. They will also line up guests and other talent, create original online content, efficiently operate digital editing equipment, and update knowledge of local communities continuously.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and research program material, including guest line-ups and online content creation
- Produce high-quality audio and video content for our weekly program Awaye
- Maintain and update databases of contacts and networks within local communities
- Provide ongoing support and feedback to the Awaye presenter on editorial and presentation issues
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Sound editorial skills, including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement
- A good understanding of ABC Radio National's role and target audience, with a proven ability to develop ideas that work for that audience
- Proficient working knowledge and experience operating digital broadcast systems and production equipment
- A passion for representing First Nations perspectives
This is a 12-month contract opportunity offering a base salary of $77k-$94k, depending on experience. We encourage applications from Indigenous Australians, people from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, people with disability, and LGBTIQA+ individuals.
