Job Title: Governance and Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Governance and Compliance Specialist to join our team.

This role plays a crucial part in enhancing the formal decision-making process of the City, providing administrative support and coordination for Council meetings, including minute taking and agenda preparation.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a similar governance role or equivalent administration experience, with knowledge and experience with the Local Government Act 1995.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attending Council, Committee, and other relevant meetings to provide administrative support and coordination.
  • Coordinating the preparation and distribution of agendas and minutes for meetings.
  • Updating Council registers, including attendance lists, meeting summaries, gift registers, financial interest register, primary and annual returns, and Councillor training.
  • Coordinating Council support, including public question and address requests.
  • Prioritizing and monitoring correspondence for Elected Members, identifying matters requiring immediate attention.
  • Developing and maintaining systems and business processes for high-quality administrative support.
  • Providing administrative advice to Elected Members and staff on relevant legislation.
  • Assisting with the conduct and administration of local government elections.

Requirements include:

  • Extensive experience in a similar governance role or equivalent administration experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Local Government Act 1995.
  • Proficient in MS Office and database skills.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Able to provide a National Police Clearance.
