About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Strategic Communications to join our team at FTI Consulting, Inc. in Melbourne or Sydney. As a key member of our Strategic Communications segment, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality outcomes and managing multiple client accounts across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted strategic communications advisor, influencing client direction in all areas of corporate communications, investor relations, or transaction communications.
  • Develop and execute financial communications strategies and messages for ASX-listed clients to reach key capital market audiences, including investors, buy-side analysts, sell-side analysts, and financial media.
  • Manage a full range of strategic communications services, including media pitching, financial calendar communications, strategic counsel on capital markets activity, crisis management, and financial media relations.
  • Lead critical transactions such as IPOs, restructurings, and M&A, developing and executing equity capital markets communications strategies for clients.
  • Advise clients on communication best practices and position them effectively with relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of key business drivers for current and potential clients, tailoring communication or business strategies/solutions accordingly.
  • Supervise the work of junior staff and provide coaching to junior team members.
  • Contribute to internal and client meetings, offering strategic and creative insights.
  • Leverage professional networking relationships with corporate management teams and the broking, investment banking, and funds management community to drive new business opportunities for FTI.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and manage firm and client data responsibly.
  • Understand FTI's values, Code of Ethics, and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice, demonstrating a strong commitment to applying these concepts in daily interactions with colleagues and clients.

About You

We are looking for a creative problem solver with:

  • A background in investor relations, equities research, M&A, or ECM, or financial journalism.
  • Strong time and priority management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple client accounts.
  • An ability to convey information effectively and accurately, verbally and in writing, across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach, with an uncompromising attitude to quality.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to be a self-starter.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, with experience in social media being beneficial.
  • Strong academic performance, with a bachelor's degree in business, law, politics, communications, or a related field.
  • At least 5-7 years of work experience in a corporate or agency environment.
