Job Title: Senior Organising Specialist

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Organising Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organisational development unit, you will be responsible for leading the development of innovative strategies to secure good jobs and equality at work.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in trade union organising, with a strong background in recruitment, leadership development, advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution. You will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the legal and policy framework that underpins workplace issues, as well as the ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems.

This role requires a high level of autonomy, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills. You will be working closely with members, leaders, and specialist staff to plan and execute activities that address group and individual issues in line with campaign objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit and maintain members to participate in campaigns for good jobs
  • Develop and implement leadership structures in specific industries to achieve campaign objectives
  • Provide training and skills transfer to delegates and leaders
  • Negotiate enterprise agreements on behalf of members
  • Work with members and specialist staff to plan and execute activities that address group and individual issues in line with campaign objectives
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in trade union organising
  • Strong background in recruitment, leadership development, advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution
  • Deep understanding of the legal and policy framework that underpins workplace issues
  • Ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems
  • High level of autonomy, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills
Benefits:

This is a full-time permanent position with a competitive salary package dependent on skills and experience. Benefits include 12% employer contribution to superannuation, five weeks annual leave each year, one RDO every four weeks, plus an additional three days leave between Christmas and New Year. Salary sacrificing is available.
