Our vision is to revolutionize sensing technology by leveraging cutting-edge laser systems. We are seeking a Senior Laser Scientist with expertise in quantum sensing and laser physics to spearhead this initiative.

You will be part of an elite team responsible for designing, building, and deploying next-generation laser systems for various industry sectors such as aerospace, defense, geophysical exploration, and Earth observation. Your role will involve collaborating closely with our quantum control engineers and hardware development teams to drive innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop state-of-the-art laser systems for quantum atomic sensing hardware with a focus on miniaturization and field deployment.
  • Work closely with the broader Quantum Sensing division to leverage the deep expertise of our quantum control engineers.
  • Design and analyze device designs, operational mechanisms, and control solutions for quantum sensors based on cutting-edge hardware.
  • Interact with hardware partners for the integration of control techniques for sensor operation and data fusion.
  • Improve sensor performance in realistic environments by creating and designing highly agile and robust laser systems.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience working with fiber and free-space laser systems.
  • Experience in atom optics, atomic interferometry, or quantum sensing, cold atom systems, gravimetry, etc.
  • Experience with laser system design, construction, and testing.
  • Heavy weighting given to experience in designing and building ruggedized optical, laser, and photonic systems for field deployment.
  • Experience in scientific device design, construction, commissioning, operation, and data analysis of scientific devices.
