Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our team in providing essential dental services to rural and remote communities across Victoria.
About the RoleThis part-time position requires traveling to various locations throughout Victoria, alternating between working on the road and one week off. As a Dental Assistant with RFDS, you will be responsible for chair-side assistance, administration, and equipment maintenance within the Flying Doctor Dental Clinic.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide dental assistance to dentists and/or oral health therapists in mobile or fixed clinics
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor equipment, including autoclave, x-ray, and ultrasonic machines
- Ensure the environment and equipment are always sterile and clean
- Assist with stock management, ordering, and replenishing supplies
- Adhere to RFDS governance policies and procedures, as well as National Safety & Quality in Healthcare Service (NSQHS) Standards – Dental
- Maintain accurate records and perform administrative tasks
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills. If you have experience in public dental clinics within the Australian Healthcare system and are passionate about bringing healthcare to rural and remote Australians, we encourage you to apply.
Requirements:- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (Essential)
- CPR and defibrillation certification
- Previous experience in a public dental clinic (Desirable)
- Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to travel to various locations throughout Victoria
The estimated salary for this role is $65,000-$75,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer competitive salary packaging options and generous not-for-profit benefits, including up to $15,900 tax-free income per year and an additional $2,650 tax-free money for meals and entertainment.
