Behaviour Support Specialist

Empowering Individuals with Disabilities to Thrive:

We seek an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our dedicated team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with individuals and their families/caregivers to address challenging behaviours, promoting a better quality of life and skill development.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand behaviour triggers, identifying risks and implementing targeted strategies for improved outcomes.
  • Developing tailored Behaviour Support Plans, ensuring consistent implementation by providing support to families/caregivers.
  • Monitoring and adjusting individual caseloads as necessary, prioritising ongoing support and positive change.
  • Crafting meaningful goals and practical strategies within a positive behaviour support framework, focusing on eliminating restrictive practices in home and community settings.
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect participants' aspirations, passions, and strengths, while fostering opportunities for growth and enjoyment.
  • Empowering those who support participants, including family, carers, or friends, through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and strength-based approaches.
  • Acting as a champion and role model for best practice, advocating for the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities.
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, driving collective success.

Essential Qualifications
  • Extensive experience working within the NDIS framework, supporting individuals with disabilities and addressing complex behaviours.
  • Qualified Behaviour Support Practitioners or professionals with extensive experience in the disability sector across various age groups.
  • A genuine passion for supporting individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions.
  • Excellent report writing skills and the ability to translate assessment findings into clear, actionable plans.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills to balance a dynamic caseload.
