Commercial Proposal Expert

Deugro is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Proposal Expert to join the team in Brisbane.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Tender Management (TM) team to develop and deliver key commercial tender responses/proposals.
  • Support commercial aspects of tender requests and perform cost analysis.
  • Assign and distribute tasks and rate requests to overseas offices and support functions during the bidding process.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and deugro sub-contractors.
  • Read and understand ocean and air freight rates, as well as common terms and conditions.
  • Calculate rate and price conversion, convert shipment weight and volume, and use rate charts to convert foreign currency to U.S. Dollars and vice-versa.
  • Develop and establish communication with foreign operations, carriers, and local customers.
  • Build relationships with vendors, shippers, customers, carriers, and deugro overseas offices throughout the tendering process.
  • Present competitive pricing/bid packages, including follow-up with customers to obtain feedback.
  • Maintain rate databases, service contracts, and port tariffs, as well as other key documents.
  • Manage TM logs and generate reports as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge in managing commercial and operational aspects in all major freight forwarding disciplines, land, air, ocean, specialized heavy or over dimensional transport for industrial projects (at least 5 years of experience).
  • Good working knowledge of domestic and international geography, including countries, major cities, airports.
  • Effective time management skills and able to evaluate competing deadlines and prioritize workflow.
  • Strong commercial, technical, and financial acumen.
  • Strong organizational skills (prioritize, plan, assign, control).
  • Possess knowledge and/or awareness of risk factors and familiar with basic measures to manage and mitigate risk.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and PC skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, team-focused, self-starter, eye for detail.
  • MS Office experience: MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and other software/tools.
