Job Title: Indigenous Community Liaison Officer

Role Overview:

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local Indigenous communities, providing cultural advice and support to police officers, and assisting in the delivery of community programs and services.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Provide cultural advice and support to police officers in relation to Indigenous customs and protocols;
    • Develop and maintain relationships with local Indigenous communities, including participating in meetings, forums, events, and festivals;
    • Assist in the delivery of community programs and services, including youth development and crime prevention initiatives;
    • Maintain accurate records and reports, as required;
    • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in Indigenous relations, community development, or a related field;
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and customs, including language and protocol;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with Indigenous communities and stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision;
  • High level of organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.
