At the Department of Justice and Community Safety, we deliver an effective corrections system for a safe community. As a Community Work Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting offender rehabilitation through meaningful community work.

We are currently experiencing rapid growth in the offender population, and we need dedicated professionals like you to help us target responses to areas that will allow the greatest impacts to be made. This approach will contribute to a safer community and strengthen our services for the future.

Your key responsibilities will include providing community work opportunities and contracts to enable offenders to complete their community work hours and orders successfully. You will administer relevant community work practices, build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, and produce reports and standard documentation in line with procedural guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will strive for service excellence, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to self-manage using available information to make sound, timely, and well-informed decisions. Flexibility and adaptability to change are also essential, as well as computer proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, electronic document management systems, and internal databases.

We look for people who are prepared to do their very best in line with our values and behaviours. Our values shape and influence how we recruit, train, and develop our staff and build relationships with stakeholders.

We offer ongoing learning and development opportunities in a diverse, equitable, and supportive environment. We provide professional development opportunities, an employee assistance program, access to job opportunities across the Victorian Government, salary packaging, and much more.
