Rate: $72.80 p/h including super + lucrative penalty rates

Contract: Long-term APS 6 assignment

Primary Purpose of the Role

The APS 6 Clinician provides high-quality, evidence-based mental health services to support the wellbeing of current and former members of the Australian Defence Force and their families. The role involves psychological assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic counselling, case coordination, and collaboration with health professionals and stakeholders. Clinicians contribute to a multidisciplinary team through direct service delivery and strategic input to mental health programs and service improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical services including risk assessments, brief interventions, and counselling for individuals, couples, and families.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential clinical records including session notes, care plans, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, continuing professional development (CPD), and peer review processes.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. health providers, staff, and partner organisations) to coordinate client care.
  • Support the delivery of psychoeducational and group treatment programs.
  • Assist with intake assessments, regional service coordination, and management of outreach clinician allocations.
  • Support community engagement, service promotion, and evaluation activities as directed.
  • Adhere to ethical practice, legislative requirements, and departmental guidelines.
  • Participate in organisational improvement initiatives including policy and clinical practice development.

Candidates must hold one of the following before commencement:

  • Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse
  • Accreditation as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Master's-level counselling qualification with registration as a Clinical Counsellor with PACFA or Level 3 or 4 with ACA.

Additional Requirements:

  • Current or ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People registration or Working with Children Check.
  • Must be open to a 24/7 roster, including some night shifts (flexible rostering available, but requires open-mindedness to varying hours)
