We are currently recruiting for an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker position in the South Western Sydney region. This role involves working with vulnerable children, young people, and their families to provide support and assistance.

Job Overview

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker. In this role, you will work collaboratively with other agencies and community partners to improve lives and realise the potential of children, adults, families, and communities.

About the Role

This position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons. As an Identified role, we require applicants to confirm their Aboriginality. You will be responsible for:

  • Working sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people
  • Collaborating with other agencies and engaging in complex problem solving
  • Assisting families in formulating goals that align with their needs, addressing safety and well-being concerns, and providing appropriate assistance through home visits
  • Developing safety plans and completing risk assessments
  • Managing cases and situations including working with high needs and high-risk clients and their families
  • Participating in court processes, including the preparation of court documents and attending court

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant diploma or degree qualification (preferably)
  • At least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and their families (if no qualification)
  • The ability to build positive working relationships, supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A valid driver's licence
  • A paid working with children clearance number
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality
