Legal Counsel - Banking

This is a career opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join a bank and provide legal guidance across banking and corporate operations.


The ideal candidate will have strong commercial skills, broad in-house financial services experience, and the ability to navigate enterprise-wide legal issues from mergers and employment law to IP/IT procurement and company secretarial matters.


In this high-impact role, you will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and be part of a respected and collaborative legal team. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Providing clear, commercially focused legal advice on banking, corporate, and financial services matters
  • Negotiating and managing contracts, including supplier arrangements and finance agreements
  • Navigating complex regulatory landscapes and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Supporting board and governance functions, including director duties and statutory reporting

About the Role

This role requires an admitted solicitor in NSW with at least 3–7 years' post-qualification experience in financial services, banking, or corporate law. You should have expertise in consumer and retail banking law and be able to manage a broad portfolio of legal issues.
