Financial Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

The Finance Manager will oversee all financial aspects of the Commercial Construction business segment. They will manage a small team of finance professionals, working closely with construction managers and estimating teams to ensure consistent business processes across various contracting entities and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and develop internal controls around job estimating, work-in-progress, cost management, and progress claims
  • Assist operational teams with tender submission requirements
  • Analyze job variances and future improvements with project managers
  • Budgeting and forecasting: prepare annual 3-way budgets (P&L, Cashflow & Balance Sheet) and manage ongoing 3-way forecasts
  • Treasury and Working Capital Management: prepare weekly cash forecasts, analyze variations in forecast working capital requirements, and approve AP payments
  • Month End Accounting: control deadlines and integrity review of data uploaded into group reporting tools
  • General Ledger ownership and processing timeliness/accuracy of AP/AR transactions
  • Review and analysis of monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow movements against budget and reforecast
  • Preparation and presentation of financial information to senior management
  • Assistance with tax queries and GST reporting
  • Audit assistance for commercial construction operations

Requirements:

We seek a candidate with:

  • University degree in accounting or similar major
  • CA or CPA membership
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role and industry
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior analytical skills and ability to explain variances
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and MS Office skills
