The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is seeking an experienced leader to fill the role of Senior Manager–Nature Planning. In this key leadership position, you will manage a team dedicated to improving environmental data and information to support evidence-based regulatory decisions. This includes overseeing the development of the WA Vegetation Extent mapping system and other projects that strengthen the understanding and stewardship of Western Australia’s native vegetation and biodiversity.

As part of the senior management team, you will contribute to the strategic direction and performance of the Nature Directorate. You will lead a team to deliver high-quality environmental data and strategic products that support regulatory decision-making and improved environmental outcomes. You will manage and maintain partnerships across government, academia, industry, and community stakeholders. You will provide mentoring and support to scientific and policy staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

You will represent the organization at interagency forums, conferences, and workshops, contributing to biodiversity policy development and reform. You will communicate and promote policy initiatives effectively through briefings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement. You will ensure branch outcomes are aligned with departmental strategic goals and are delivered on time.
