Job Title: Environmental Conservation Officer

Job Summary:

National Parks and Wildlife Service has two opportunities for environmental conservation professionals to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

About the Role:

This role involves providing effective management of natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage by undertaking, coordinating and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, and field-based activities including burn planning/wildfire management and law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective management of natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage sites.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and develop strategies for conservation and management.
  • Coordinate and supervise projects, including burn planning and wildfire management.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and visitors to ensure their needs are met and concerns are addressed.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve conservation goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent in environmental science, conservation biology or related field.
  • Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles.
  • Ability to fly in light aircraft and willingness to participate in incident management duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
