About the Role:

The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program is seeking a skilled clinician to join their team as a Farm Gate Counsellor. As a key member of the program, you will provide specialist counselling services to individuals, families, and agricultural groups in rural and remote communities affected by natural disasters.

You will work in partnership with the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, providing clinical services to individuals in disaster-affected communities. Your role will also involve professional/clinical supervision and leadership to less experienced practitioners.

The Farm Gate Support Program provides mental health and emotional support to farmers, farming families, local businesses, and service providers in regional and rural communities. The program offers a range of services, including short-term conversations, information, and ongoing formal counselling options.

As a successful candidate, you will have a strong dedication to regional and rural communities and an understanding of the challenges they face, including droughts, economic pressures, infrastructure limitations, social isolation, and changes in local industries.

You will possess knowledge of and commitment to the mental wellbeing of the agricultural community, as well as experience in helping others navigate prolonged stress. Your ability to provide mental health assessment and counselling, including risk assessment, to adults and children, is essential for success in this role.

About You:

">

We are looking for a skilled clinician who is passionate about delivering high-quality mental health services to rural communities. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.

You will be a registered psychologist or social worker with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). You must hold a relevant degree in psychology, social work, or a related field and have postgraduate qualifications in clinical psychology or a related field.

A strong understanding of the principles and practices of trauma-informed care, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy is highly desirable. You will also need to demonstrate expertise in crisis management and intervention.

This full-time position comes with a salary package of approximately $95,351 per annum, plus superannuation and salary packaging options. You will work autonomously within a small team, with opportunities for professional development and education.
