We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Operations Manager to join our elite team at Amazon. As a key member of our infrastructure management team, you will be responsible for leading a team of technical professionals to ensure the smooth operation of our data centres.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of data centre technicians and operators to prioritize and assign trouble tickets, and review the ticket queue for large events.
- Guide, train, and educate data operations technicians on best practices related to service owner issues.
- Manage and deliver mid-size projects, and recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
- Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels, and maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations.
- Write and deliver performance reviews for staff, and constantly improve all processes and procedures.
- Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, and ensure adherence to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all data centres.
- Create and maintain metrics of all aspects of our data centres, and utilize those metrics to drive positive improvements.
- Assist in implementing service methodologies that include incident management, problem management, change management, and capacity management.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
Requirements- 4+ years people management experience with direct reports in an IT related field.
- 4+ years experience in managing IT systems.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of change concepts, problem and incident management.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
- Project Management experience.
- Linux/UNIX certification and/or administration experience.
- Hardware architectures knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
