Energy Planning Expert

Horizon Power seeks a highly skilled Energy Planning Expert to lead the development of innovative forecasting features that support decarbonisation and climate resilience. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy in Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and strategic Demand & Energy Forecasts, ensuring timely and relevant insights for Horizon Power's stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and respond to evolving energy requirements, fostering strong relationships and driving effective solutions.
  • Develop forward-thinking Demand & Energy forecast scenarios that support the transition to a decarbonised energy supply and enhance climate resilience.
  • Generate credible projections for renewable energy adoption and emerging technology uptake across Horizon Power's energy systems, providing actionable insights for informed decision-making.
  • Provide analytical expertise to support strategic initiatives within the Energy Planning team as needed, leveraging technical skills and knowledge to drive business outcomes.
  • Lead a direct report, demonstrating exceptional leadership and mentoring capabilities to drive team success and growth.

Requirements:

  • Strong educational background in Engineering, Science, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in modelling and data analysis within a commercial or business environment, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent ability to work with and interpret large datasets to generate meaningful insights, identifying trends and patterns that inform business decisions.
  • Proficiency in a range of technical tools and platforms, including QL, Python, R, AWS Architecture, and Azure DevOps.
  • Deep understanding of the concept of energy delivery and its applications in the industry.
  • Self-motivation and high organisational skills are essential to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
