About the Role

As Executive Director of Operations and Compliance, you will oversee operational excellence across our industrial construction business with a strong focus on HR, organisational development, and Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

You will play a critical role in driving business growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of safety and employee engagement.

You will work closely with the senior leadership team to oversee day-to-day operations, enhance performance, and manage risk while aligning operational goals with the company's strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Human Resources & Talent Management:
    • Collaborate with People & Culture to develop and implement strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and employee development.
    • Drive initiatives to enhance workplace culture, employee relations, and job satisfaction.
    • Oversee workforce planning, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
    • Evaluate and ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Safety Management:
    • Lead and champion a safety-first culture throughout the organisation.
    • Ensure all construction sites and manufacturing facilities adhere to strict safety regulations and compliance standards.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and processes to minimise accidents and incidents, and continuously improve safety performance across all sites.
    • Conduct thorough safety audits, risk assessments, and provide proper training for all employees.
    • Promote proactive safety initiatives aligned with the company objectives.
  • Strategic Growth & Performance:
    • Develop and execute P&C / safety strategies to achieve business / board objectives.
    • Analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and make data-driven decisions to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Serve as a key member of the executive team, collaborating closely with other department heads Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Communicate regularly with the General Manager and board of directors, providing updates on HR & Safety operational performance and key initiatives.
    • Provide guidance on IT support and Fleet management.
About You

As an experienced COO, you will effectively manage all facets of HR and Safety for Akura while supporting corporate services.

  • Proven experience as a senior leader, preferably in the industrial construction or related sector.
  • A strong background in HR and safety management, with a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and employee relations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
  • A solid knowledge of relevant safety standards, construction regulations, and employment laws.
