Cost Controller Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Controller to join our team in Brisbane, Queensland. As a key member of our project management team, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of our clients' projects by establishing and managing cost management systems and processes.

As a Cost Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and manage comprehensive project cost plans that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, project teams, and external partners to secure support, resources, and buy-in for financial performance objectives.
  • Providing regular updates and reporting to senior management and stakeholders to provide real-time visibility into project cost performance, ensuring forecasts and budgets are up-to-date, accurate, and reflect the current status of the project.
  • Delivering expertise in project cost control and financial management tools, including Excel, SAP, Oracle, and similar ERP systems.
  • Identifying and resolving cost-related issues promptly and effectively, minimizing disruptions to financial targets and timelines.
  • Analyzing project financial data and providing comprehensive reports and metrics to project teams and stakeholders, enabling data-driven insights for cost optimization.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in engineering, finance, construction management or a related field; Master's degrees are advantageous.
  • 5–8 years of experience in managing cost controls for complex projects and programs across different industries including infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of cost control processes, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, with 5+ years of hands-on experience using tools such as Excel, SAP, Oracle or other cost management software.
  • Strong financial acumen, communication, problem-solving, and project cost management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adjust communication styles based on the audience and thrive in new environments.
