Overview of a Key Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced financial professional to contribute to the effective delivery of infrastructure investments in a large public sector environment. As an Infrastructure Financial Management Specialist, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust governance and optimal performance of major infrastructure programmes.
- Build strong partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and client service.
- Validate capital project accruals by ensuring alignment with invoicing for accurate financial records.
- Collaborate with asset accountants and quantity surveyors to guide asset capitalisation in line with policies.
- Contribute to improving financial management practices during the six-month engagement.
- Support ICT system enhancements and internal controls to optimise infrastructure investments.
- Prepare detailed financial reports on cashflows, accruals, and asset accounting for senior management review.
- Participate in team meetings to address project finance and asset management issues.
- Perform additional duties as needed, showcasing adaptability to evolving project requirements.
- Communicate complex financial information effectively to support informed decision-making.
- A tertiary qualification in finance, accountancy, commerce, or economics, providing a strong foundation for understanding complex financial concepts.
- Hands-on experience with SAP or similar financial systems, ensuring proficiency in managing project finances and enterprise resource planning tools.
- Expertise in infrastructure financial management, including practical knowledge of project cashflows, accruals processes, and asset accounting policies.
- Advanced Excel skills to accurately compile, analyse, and interpret large datasets for insightful financial reporting.
- Proven experience supporting or managing capital projects, with familiarity in budgeting, funding programs, and performance monitoring best practices.
- Exceptional analytical skills to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that drive informed decision-making.
- Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels and translate technical information into clear, accessible messages.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn, enabling adaptability in fast-evolving environments focused on continuous improvement.
