Lead Agriculture Portfolio

The team is seeking a senior manager to lead the agriculture portfolio. This strategic role involves overseeing multiple industries, engaging stakeholders, and delivering impactful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement portfolio strategies that drive industry growth and prosperity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry leaders, government representatives, and researchers.
  • Lead a team of program managers and coordinators to identify research priorities and deliver extension services to industry stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure high-quality outputs and maximize adoption of research outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in science, business management, or economics, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in program management, including identification of R&D priorities, developing R&D plans, supporting budgets, and commissioning, contracting, and managing R&D projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in rural issues and the role of rural research and development, with an appreciation for delivering R&D outcomes to end-users.
  • Experience in leading teams to achieve high performance, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on program and project performance, and outstanding stakeholder liaison skills, management, and engagement.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leadership and team management.
  • Strong financial planning and program management skills.
  • Knowledge of Australian agriculture and empathy for rural communities.
  • Commitment to delivering positive outcomes for stakeholders.
